Responsibilities

By Statute, Kittson County Social Services (KCSS) is responsible for administering Social Services, Children’s Services and Financial Assistance programs under state supervision.

KCSS locally administers an array of services as established by local, state, and federal law that promotes the protection, support, and rehabilitation of individuals and families.  KCSS is responsible for administration of many programs in the areas of public assistance, child and adult protection, long-term care consultation, and services for persons with developmental disabilities/related conditions, mental illness, other disabilities, and chemical dependency. There is also support for both custodial and non-custodial parents in the establishment and enforcement of child support, childcare and medical support.
